Ok, I totally screwed up and gave an order of size holes to be drilled on a tempered bottom panel for my tank. The hole sizes I gave are too small.
Is there anything I can do to make the existing holes bigger and not break it into a thousand pieces? Or am I going to have to live and use a 3/4'' drain ![]() ps.. These are for SCH 80 fittings. So for a 1.5'' drain I'd need a 2 5/8'' hole. Say it with me now... " You are dumb!" doh! |

Hmmm... I wonder if it would be in your best interest to just order a new bottom panel with the correct size hole. Would it be an option to grind it down or would that still compromise the integrity of the tempered glass?

Yea I can re-order the piece for free but they will charge me $45 for 3 holes. I might go that route, but just asking first to see if anyone has tried grinding or ? when working with tempered glass. Its 3/8'' thick btw.

I'd just try grinding it and see what happens. You'd save yourself 45 bucks if it works. If you crack it, you were willing to spend the 45 anyway. Good luck.

The second you cut (or try to cut, grind, etc) the tempered glass, it will crack into gravel. Either live with it or order a new one.

Yea, I'll be using Black Structural Dow Cornig Silicone. This silicone is a lot stronger than the ordinary HD stuff.
The stand is 80% done. Simply 2x4's are framed up, just don't know how to finish it yet on the ply nor what color paint since I am painting my bedroom this weekend as well. But since the tank is rimless I need to add some nice trim on the stand to give it that extra bang. I am taking photos of everything, there is a photo journal to follow once there is water at least in the tank.
