Mushrooms
Does anyone have experience with mushrooms? Can they be removed from rockwork in the same way that anemones can? I have successfully taken anemones off rocks by applying a stream of water from a powerhead at it.
Thx. |

Yes, a shroom will release itself if it is getting shot with a powerhead. Or you can take a razor blade and slice it off of the rock also.

If you don't mind if it grows back, you can just cut it off. Otherwise, you have to make sure to get whatever it is attached to along with it.
Interesting to hear that the powerhead will work too. Good info! Tracy

I tore one off a rock with my fingers yesterday.

And that didn't damage the mushroom?

I'm sure it did.
But sometimes mushrooms can be a pain. They can sure take up a lot of real estate. I just had a rather large rhodactis mushroom split and now it's covering a small toadstool that I want to grow.Might have to cut that one off and stick it somewhere else. The stem will grow back, but at least the toadstool will get light and grow more. |

I don't have a lot of current where my red mushrooms are but one of them is always fully open but seems like it is about ready to be ripped right off the rock.

I hear you about the real estate thing. They do take up a lot of room, which is why I want to remove some.
What do other reefers charge for selling these things? Any ideas? |
