I'll second the visitherm stealth. I've broken one too many glass heaters.

anyone have one of the titanium heaters? I have the visitherm stealth as well, but I wonder if the plastic on the outside conducts heat as well as glass. I wonder if a 250 watt heater would heat up the same volume of water with the same amount of electricity regardless of whether the thermometer is glass, plastic, titanium. Anyone know?

I'll be at the HS tommorow, i'm there almost every day.

I've wondered the same thing, plastic isn't the best conductor but it seems to work. i do think the titanium heaters are probably better, but you can't beat the price on the stealth.

Scott, you ever see the tank at the hs? It has a serious majano problem. Probably gonna go up after school one day this week and get started with some kalk injections, if you're interested

I've had broken visitherms in the past, and yes they broke on their own (no rough handling). Never tried the stealth one though, perhaps its better than the other lower models?

While I like ebo-jagers, I personally wouldn't put any glass encased heating element in a tank that has hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of live stock.
