Question Grow Ballist or "Aquarium" Ballist

I have been looking online and have a few hydroponic stores locally that sell massive amouts of grow equiptment. I am able to get a dual 400 watt lighting setup from them for around 400$. However i have been reading the light spectrum may not be ideal for corals. So..... Can i use a hydroponice designed ballist, lets say a 400 watt, to power my halides for my aquarium? Woudl i be able to get Moguel bults from lets say a aquarium store/website that are 400 watt and then run the ballists i got at the hydro store to power them? The main reason i am curious is because this is the end of the "grow" season and alot of people are selling the ballists and blubls for very cheap. Locally here there is a person i have been talking to selling two 400watt ballists bulbs for around 100$ for the pair.

Ditto, a metal halide ballast of one type from an aquarium supplier is the same as that from the hydroponics supplier or the general lighting supplier. Example ... and ANSI M81 ballast is an ANSI M81 ballast no matter who sells it it is designed to run most any DE 150 watt halide bulb.

You can get 2 retro 400's with bulbs from Hellolights.com for around $300.
