Question Friend has a 150 gallon with 13 fish one of which is a CLOWN TANG? Too much?

Buddy of mine in Texas has a 150 gallon with 13 fish.

1 Clown Tang (just added)
1 Yellow Tang
1 Regal Blue Tang
2 clownfish
1 Bicolor Pseudochromis
4 chromis
1 Long nose Hawk
2 pink Anthias

Is he overstocked and asking for trouble with adding the Clown Tang as his last fish? I have heard they are not easy to keep and can become very aggressive?

He has about 150 pounds of LR and some hard and soft corals also.

Thanks.

I think he's okay. That's my opinion though.

How big is the clown? They can be hard to keep, and get very aggressive. Give it time and it will own everything in the tank, maybe even kill other fish.

I hope he has good fortune with the clown tang. They are mean and parasites love them. They also get big!

The clown tang wasn't a great addition. As said above, they get mean, are usually very sensitive, and grow huge. If he returns the clown tang, the list looks to be in pretty good shape.

The clown tang is an incredibly poor choice for both the tank size and inhabitants.

Your friend needs to educate himself before making decisions.

Thanks for the help guys I sent him this post to read. Good friend of mine and I would hate to see him lose all his fish in the long run.

The clown tang will most likely die within the 1st year, so no worries.

not too much biomass for a 150, but clown tangs are unpleasant. I would ditch the clown tang and add 11 green chromis.

Just tell him that clown tang is poisonous and if it decide to come to him and slid his hand open with the surgeon knife, he will be dead.
