I think they're a necessity for a clean tank! We use it every other day to avoid algae build-up - the kids used to fight over who got to clean the glass!

I think this thread refers specifically to the Magnet razor scrapers, not just plain ol' algae magnets, right?
If that's the case, I have yet to see a Magfloat razor scraper in action...

but if you're talking about just algae magnets.... I don't know anybody without one. I have an 'Algae Free' float.

got an acrylic tank?
Check out this thread!

here's one of the Magfloat scrapers in action:

I believe zooqi made one of these for M. Klier

Do they work on a bowfront? The problem I have is that my glass is bent, and most mag floats don't work as well, and even hand scraping is iffy. Never tried the mag scrapers.

and here I thought Klier was the only one around here with one of those things. I'll have to see it in action. I think I could use one.

I just got some of these. Oh My God, these things are awsome. The glass on my tank looks brand new. If you dont have one and think you might have a use for them; get one you will not be disappointed.

I need the attachment! I have coralline algae on the edges of my viewing panes. It's funny, but people that know nothing about reef aquariums don't notice my green hair algae. They'll look right at the coralline on the glass and tell me I have an algae problem

just imagine what the whole viewing pane would look like if I didn't run a magnet over the glass every day.

I think I'll try the magnet attachment before getting the lawn tractor attachment!
Did you get yours from Marine Depot, johno4?

FYI they charge quite a bit for shipping, but other than that it was a good experience.

Boy, suction cups and salt water don't seem to work out for very long. I epoxy'd one to my auto top off sensor, so that I wouldn't have to worry about the tank being flooded when the suction cups eventually failed

I think I'll epoxy one to my feeding clip too.
