What do you think of this bioload ?

60 inch wide
18 inch deep
23 inch tall

108 gallons display with 40 gallon sump that is filled to half. So 128 g total. ~100 lbs of rock. Fuge filled with Chaeto in the sump.

Livestock :

1 yellow tang (3.5 ")
1 bellus angel (3.5")
4 Lyretail Anthias (1 male 3 female)
1 Flame Angel
2 chromis
1 firefish

i also have one flame hawk,..but hes been MIA recently, might have bit the sand

what do you guys think ?

Higher than I would go, but probably ok.

Don't add anything.

I had a 110 with about half that. I'd cut the tang OR Bellus angel OR Anthias. Just my opinion.

with good filtration no problem, although I would add a lot more chromis they look and act much better in groups of 11 or more.

skimmer is a Deltec APF600
at least 100lbs rock

I dont know about the chromis man they sometimes look cool and playful, some other times i just hate them. :P

Thanks Toonces but that bellus angel is not going anywhere

. I might let go of a couple of female anthias and the chromis and get her a male

Not the biggest skimmer around, rated for a 75g tank "heavily stocked". Just be consistent with your water changes.

Peter,..where did u get the rating? The website obviously pushes it but deltecusa rates it at 200g heavy stocking

Deltec APF600 Skimmer
The APF 600 features a wider neck for increased performance the unit is rated for 750 litres with light stocking and 280 litres with heavy stocking the unit foot print required 750mm x 280mm x210mm. The unit required a seperate water feed of 800 litres per hour. A suitable pump can be found in the installation kit.

280 liters = 74 gallons.

I really have no idea...I've never owned a Deltec.

Weird that website,...i had never heard of it rated at that...Ill ask on the deltec forum.

It doesnt seem right as that website is also selling it for much cheaper then it actually is. They must have mixed up models.

I wouldnt push the APF600 higher than 70-100 gallons. Its not all that different from something like an RC80, even though it is a magic-deltec.

It really doesnt pull all that much air, and isnt all that big. There are much nicer skimmers available for much cheaper (IE, look at the DAS-EX2). The rating on that site is screwed up, as the AP600 is rated as 700/450, and they have the APF600 as 750/280. Its probably supposed to be 480, but I think thats absurd. Its functionally somewhere between an RC80 and RC135.

Deltec: 5"x23.5", 500lph
RC80: 5"x22", 510lph
RC135: 6"x20", 780lph.

ER rates the RC80 as
ave load 80+gal
heavy load 50+gal

ER rates the RC135 as
ave load 135+gal
heavy load 100+gal

I happen to think the RC80 is a better skimmer than the APF600 (more air, curved neck, etc), and at he $885 you're looking at for an APF600, you could buy an RC180, and theres NO comparison there.

If you're gonna keep the deltec, you're about maxed out on bioload, IMO. If you go to a bigger skimmer, you can go higher, much higher if you get something big.

I've got a MUCH larger bioload in my 72 than what you're proposing.

Naw, thats the right price. Deltec just likes to screw its american customers.

The similar H&S is like $100 more expensive than the APF600 in Europe, and $100 less in the us.

Rich,..thanks for the clarification. This is a running system as i say,..so i already have the skimmer and the livestock. I pull about an inch of pretty consistent skimmate everyday (if i clean the riser everyday).

I know i can get bigger bioload with a bigger skimmer and will update in a few months,..but for now i think the deltec is what i have to work with.

PS,..bought it used for 400 so i thought it wasnt a bad deal.
