Lightbulb Eerie reflection

Okay. I just looked at my clowns and saw an eerie reflection on top of them. It's there every time I look. No matter where they are in the tank, I can see there white stripes reflecting on top of them. The reflection is about a quarter inch high off of the clowns. Does anybody know what that reflection is or is caused by?!?!?!?!

Well it gets into the Optics portion of Physics. If you go back to your elementary teachings, you should already know that white reflects all light, and black absorbs all light. The light get reflected off of the white stripes of the fish and then are reflected off the glass of your tank creating an optical illusion.

I'm not sure how else to explain it in an easier way without going into the math of everything.

Yeah, but today is the first time that I have ever seen this. And by the way, my clowns are white and orange. And they are the only fish in my tank that are doing this.

Most white reflections appearing on top of Clownfish typically result from excessive usage of hi-fi sensimilla from Northern California. On-going research in this matter suggests that Hi-Fi Northern Californian Sensimilla (henceforth referred to as HiFi NOCAS) may cause an individual to needlessly tinker with his aquarium in futile attempts to either re-aquascape or to make it known to the livestock who the boss really is. On a side note, HiFi NOCAS has been known to make individuals feel paranoid, and at times very hungry. Side effects also include coughing fits, uncontrollable laughter, and/or both simultaneously.

Presently, there's no known cure once you're addicted.

Conclusion: Stay off of it.

LOL @ Fish Filet

I get this effect as well, but more when I try to photograph my clowns. The stripes always look kind of fuzzy and don't really match up to the border of the fish. As JokerGirl said it's just an optical phenomenon.
