Tang Questions
Ok im wanting to get my first tank.
My LFS has two Blue tang But im wondering will they graze on algae in a tank? I have heard some tangs eat bubble algae? What kind? Also. When I Q-tank my fish I use a product called Life Guard I was wondering would this product be ok and work ok for blue tangs or just tangs in general? Thanks |

As is mentioned in the link you provided, they will eat algae.
As far as the Life Guard product goes.....I try not to treat anything unless it is warranted. Any product that kills the bad stuff will take a toll on good stuff too. Since Tangs can be pretty sensitive to treatments I would not add anything unless it shows signs of disease. |

They get awfully big for a 75. Tangs from the Paracanthurus family shouldn't be placed in anything less than a 6 foot long tank. A yellow eye kole tang http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/tan...oweyekoletang/ or a flame fin tomini tang http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/tan...fintominitang/ would be much more suitable for a tank that size.
It would be pushing it, but maybe even a yellow tang. The yellow tang would certainly be better than the hepatus. http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/tangs/yellowtang/
