Help with plumbing
I have never had a sump before and I am in need of some plumbing help. It will be on a standard 120 with a 50 gal sump
What size pipe should I use? Does it depend on the drain/return holes? Is there a standard hole size for 120s? Should return and drain lines be the same size? Any tips on where to put unions and valves? Thanks |

I run a 120 with a 60g sump. I have a pair of outflows that are 1" each and my returns are a pair of 3/4 that split from an 1-1/2 line. My main system pump is a Mag12.
I would put the valves as close to the source of the flow as is practical. The valves are to adjust the flow rate and to shut it off if needed, so keep that in mind when planning. It's a bummer to find that you have put a valve in but still can't stop your flow at all points. Unions should go anyplace you may need to disassemble the piping. The actual size of the piping from the pump to the returns should be determined by the flow rate of the pump. |
