anyone still have this Montipora?

I sent out quite a few frags of it back in 2000-2001 as a "possible confusa", which I realize now is certainly not the species. It was a very cool green with pink rim plating coral with purple polyps (hard to see in the photo), lots of texture, that would send up lots of thin spires from the middle once it became established.

I just wondered if its still out there somewhere since I haven't seen anything quite like it in the photos nowadays.

Pretty common on the FS in Colorado threads I think...although I am not sure if I remember seeing purple polyps.

Beautiful coral none the less.

I didn't get it from you, but a I have a piece that is very similar, except the polyps are more white (maybe become purple with different light?), the texture, as well as the green and pink/purple look identical tho.

Sorry Tim, I no longer have it. I currently don't have a tank. Hopefully by fall/early winter the new tank will be set up.

The polyps were definitely dark purple/blue, I have seen several with white polyps, probably the same species but just not the same color scheme.

FWIW the species is M. Foliosa...colors will vary from specimen to specimen and tank to tank, but yeah you could find something like that out there with a little effort

I got this from Rommel and this was his pic of it when I bought it. It is about 10 inches across now and I have browned it out a little and I dont have a current picture. The rim is pink not purple like the picture and polyps are green.

Hey Menard!

Good to hear from you. I'll probably be back your direction sometime this fall, as I still have plenty of family in Illinois. I will be in touch
Do you have any photos of your colony?
Thanks!

I think I have Griss's old piece. Got it from a reefer here in St Louis that said he got it from Griss, I can get you a pic if interested. Looks just like that with blue polyps

Yeah if you have a pic you could post that would be cool. I only ever saw it grown out in my tank.

Thanks!

This piece is recovering from being completely brown. The guy I bought it from said it will turn a greenish color in the center with a purple rim. The purple is starting to show in the rim.

Yes, I do wonder if it turned into the "LE flower petal"...it did look similar to the pictures I've seen. I sent out enough of it that it wouldn't surprise me if $teve Tyree got ahold of some gave it his golden touch.
