detaching a coral

Hopefully this will be my last thread on this, but my star polyps arent doing so well. My water is fine and long story short, some of the polyps are curling. It didnt come on a rock from my LFS so i attached it to a rock up top. I want to detach it from the rock but its attached too well- If I move the rock too much it'll fall causing many other rocks that r supporting on it to fall. Is there a way I can cut it off oppose to pulling it off? They look like they're on the verge of dying so i want to move them quickly...

Thanks

just get an exacto knife and cut underneath the flesh. Then pull it off like pulling off a sticker.
