140 Gallon Reef....
I am currently looking to add a Clown tang (3-4") into a established 140 gallon reef. It currently has
-Mated pair of flase perc's -Yellow tang -LARGE foxface (spotted) -Assorted bar and fire fish goby's I know mixing tangs is hit or miss, but the coloring on the clown tang is so vibrant i'd hate to pass it up. does this system sound suitable for a clown tang? Thanks! |

It all depends on the particular fish. I had yellow, hippo, naso, and kole tangs that got along fine. I always wanted a clown tang but was afraid that it would be too aggressive. To my surprise when I added him my kole tang, which is generally a mild manned tang, lost his mind. He repeatedly attacked him. I tried to get the kole out but couldn't. I rearranged the rock and it helped a little. He eventually died in about 2 weeks. You never know.

I hate to do this to you but IMHO a 140 gallon is too small to house an adult clown tang, they get to be pretty large. If you get him reletively small though you may be able to swing it for a while

As a general statement, clown tangs are one of the most aggressive tangs available.
