certain public aquariums have this species on display.
A minimum size aquarium (IMO) would be 700+ gallons.
These are very active swimming fish.

Actually come to think of it, 700 gallons is pretty small when it comes to public aquariums, normally thats the size of hospital tanks in that industry.

I've seen Clownfish in 1,000 gallon displays, but it has nothing to do with this thread.
I've never seen N. unicornis in a 700 gallon public display.
reread what I posted:

Just wondering Gary, since you have an enormous reef tank, what kind of job do you have that lets you afford that

If you look under occupation it says "great dad." It's pretty obvious.

Great Dad's should all be rewarded with large fish/reef tanks.

we have a good-sized vlamingi tang in the 1200g reef display i help maintain and it is stunning. large tangs are indeed very cool, but should be left in the ocean or saved for extremely large tanks.

as for the clowns - there are 3 pairs of different clowns in this tank as well. they could care less that the tank is so big (11ft x 5ft x 3ft)! they rarely leave their hosts.

SD I think the comments are out of line. Since Mr. Majchrzak
is a respected member of the aquarium society and a helpful member of this forums.

He just tried to help u but as usual most likely u r still wet behind the ears in the hobby and know all that there is to know.

Anyways please turn this threads into info and not BS.

BTW anybody have any pics of the actual fish.

to get this back on track, yes they are a very nice tang. my buddy used to keep one in his 125, he bought him at about 4". he would let you pet him too, he would rest in your hand when you put it in the tank to do work. here are some pics i found online

Those pics above are of a vlamingii tang. Here is a similar one, Naso hexacanthus (you can see a vlamingii in the background)
(and yes, the tank is big enough! )

a 225 gallon aquarium isn't "enormous"!
Remember what vehicle Sam Walton used to drive?
A late model Ford pickup truck.

I work a steady job. You need to eliminate the connection between the size of an aquarium and one's income.

Now somebody needs to post a picture of the correct fish-
Naso unicornis
