Hmmm, you guys have me wondering now. I am worried that when I finally setup my 75 gallon main and my 40 sump that my bill will be so high that my wife may back hand me.

Guys
Here are some actual numbers. I took my 120 down 2 months ago. It was running 1200w of light 12 hours and a day plus multiple pumps, heaters ,etc.
Here are my LIPA numbers for May-July for each year

2006- 66 days used 6299kw for $1,324.00(with tank)

2007- 66 days used 4601kw for $ 913.00 (no tank)

That's a 411.00 difference without the tank for the same 2 month period. I am not taking the wife's side on this issue but you can see the difference above

Andy

OK now see this proves it's the wives fault

Last 66 days for me were 3524kw, now I work from home so the CAC is running non-stop, multiple computers 24x7, 180G w/3x250W, 65G w/4x54W and 24G nano 64W.

Running (til the upgrade..gag..) 75g SW & 33g SW cube, 6 FW tanks totaling 225g's & a 2000g pond..3 BR ranch on the smallish side..600 per month.
Intentionally am only going with the 120 upgrade since my current lighting & skimmer will fit on it..only difference might be the heat but doubtful as my office (where the tank is) bakes in the winter time.

..and all this was after taking down 8 OTHER FW tanks when I knew I was going over to SW to compensate for the extra expense.

Only $74,000 Joe..that's pretty good!

Go GeoThermal and ditch the chiller! Mine went down from last year.

3x250W MH, 4x96w PowerC Compact, 4 fans, moon leds, AquaComtroller III Pro, Refugium w/2x13w lights, Iwaki 70RT, more reef gadgets than you can imagine...

If you really look at your bill, you would see the cost to deliver has increased greatly.

Gas, in the summer should be rock bottom since it is just for the hot water heater for most. I go from $140 in winter to $30 in the summer

There's nothing you can really do about it and still live here on LI, except give up every little bit of enjoyment or comfort you have...

I calculated that my reef tank costs me approx. $80/month extra for LIPA. I have a 90G with 2 X 250W MH + 1 X 150W MH, moon LED's, 4 fans, various powerheads and pumps for tank and sump, no chiller

$651 per month on the budget plan, and they say I'm over using that so I can expect yet another increase.

Remember when Richard Kessel was jumping up and down yelling about how we had to dissolve LILCO, or we'd all go broke paying for electricity?
I hope a live wire drops on his fat, bald head.

I am lucky, however, my yearly bill in office is still a little more than your monthly bill. That is also one of the reasons that I told you I prefer the LIRA meeting on Friday evening right after our office hour instead of Saturday and Sunday.

Because my warehouse and office are using the same unit of old gas hot water system in winter, after the office is closed on Friday, I have to get to office 2 hours earlier to warm up the room if the meeting is held on Saturday and Sunday.

However, if LIRA needs a meeting on Sat. or Sun., or even on Christmas eve, don't mind to ask. It's aways available for LIRA.

Without the tank, on LIPA balanced billing, I run about $280 a month with the tank about $430.

$7812 annually?

That's insane for a 1-family home

What are you running in that house
