would like to know what is this? SPS? LPS? name? how to care for it. thanks alot |

Its a large polyp stony, but of what type I havent the slightest. Can you get a closer picture so we have a little sharper view of its details?

Looks like symphyllia maybe. I agree, a better, closer pic would be nice.

How big is it, and do you know if it came in on a piece of live rock, or if it was a free-standing colony? Do you know what country (or at least ocean) it came from originally? Regardless of what it is, it does appear to be bleached, so I would be sure to keep it well fed until it recovers.

With its size and shape, and where you say it came from, it may very well be a caribbean rose coral (Manicina areolata). I had one recently, but it didn't make it. Looked like a mini trachyphyllia, like that one does to me. Mine was only about 3" across.

I kinda thought it was Manicina, which is why I asked about the location. Im 90% sure its a bleached Manicina areolata. Keep feeding it, and dont put it under real intense light, and it should do just fine for you. Theyre pretty sturdy.

Well i thouht about it but the valleys dont look so much alike and the the shape is pretty round. According to the page kev sent they are more oval shaped? anyhow should i keep it in the sand? rite know i have it midway in the tank with 70w mh 14k. |
