sand turning brown

any idea why my sand is turning brown?

my tank has been setup for about 3 months but I have stocked it pretty fast in the last 2 weeks. I will check my water peramiters when my son goes to bed. I will post them then.

Is this normal I think it may have been a nitrate spike. is that what you think?

Roger

Could be a diatom bloom or a cyano bloom. Google both and look for pictures.

Diatoms. Very normal for newly cycling tanks to go through a diatom bloom. It should pass on its own. If you aren't already, contine to use RO/DI water.
