algae eater

I am looking for something to help control macro algae - I am getting overran with 4 or 5 different types. I have a 75 gallon with 4" DSB, 60 lbs live rock, 2 false clowns and 1 samll (1 inch) hippo tang.
I have heard that a lawn mower or a bi-color blenny would work. I am planning to get a Manderin in about 6 months. Any suggestions?

Neither blenny will help with the control of run-away macro algae.
They are better for micro algaes.

You have to identify what type of algae is taking over for someone to give an accurate suggestion. Many herbivores are specialty eaters and often ignore the typs of algae that plague our tanks such as bryopsis or valonia.

Please try and find out what type you have or a detailed description.

My rabbitfish mowed down at least four different macroalgaes in my tanks. I ended up removing the one in the 120g and the algaes are making a strong comeback. They are a relatively inexpensive fish that do a good job at herbivourous duties. They are peaceful fish in my experience as well. Good luck!!
