ray/shark tank

so i'm thinking of rearranging my tank so that it can accommodate a brown banded bamboo shark or a ray. at the moment i have a lot of rock so i know i will have to remove some, can't take it all out since i do have a zebra eel who does not seem to enjoy the pvc that were put in for him. i've only seen him on the one side of the tank, so what i'm thinking is to clear most of the other side, leave one or two small rocks, and only have a low level of rocks on the other side. what do you think and could you post some pics of your ray/shark tanks. thanks.

The Bamboo will want a place to hide. You need to make a place for him. Make sure it is EXTREMELY secure, they often get crushed. Just take everything out you can. Make clear long paths down the tank. And plan for an upgrade, the shark will require a much larger tank down the road.

Make a few ledges/caves to make the shark feel secure. The ray doesn't need caves as it will bury in the sand. Be sure to upgrade later on.

Just make sure you upgrade you tank. A 150gal tank wont hold an brown banded for a life time or few years for that matter.

a 150 will hold one for a few years, you have to take out the puffer and even though it may seem tedious taking out all the water might be a good idea. you would get to clean everything real good and it would make the shark happy.

A 150 isn't going to hold any shark for it's entire life.

But depending on the size of the shark when you get it 7 the width of the tank - will tell you just how long you will be able to keep the shark in that tank.

if you get the shark at about 8", and the tank is 18" wide then you might be able to keep in the tank for about 1 year. A tank that is 24" wide may be able to keep the same pup it for about 18 months - 24 at the most.

Cool - with a 1,000 gallon lagoon. Depending on your lagoon's exact dimensions you could keep almost any small benthic shark under about 3.5-4 ft.

I recently setup a 480gal shark/ray tank....the shark will have to wait for a couple more months, but I have a yellow ray in there right now....he's about 6"-7" across the disc......started eating the day after I got him in there...coolest fish I've ever owned.....

I'll try to get a pic taken tonight and show you my setup.....here are a few pics taken a couple of weeks ago..haven't finished the wood trim and don't have the cabinets put in yet......but you get the idea:

I have a webcam on each end of the tank (tank width is 4').....you can see the "action" live:
