Talking More spawning...

All three of my pink birdsnets are spawning (white dots):

And now I noticed fluorescent green dots coming out of the polyps of another acro. Hmmm, I should be late with my water changes more often I guess

Hi Sue, I actually want to get my lone single chromis a partner, but have never tried pairing them. Should I buy one the same size, smaller, or larger? The current one is small (maybe an inch). Thanks

HI Peter, I'd get maybe 3-4. Thats what I did, I had 1 large female left from my old school when I started this 120g. I wanted to add some more thinking it'd be nice for this chromis. Now 2 have paired off from the new added chromis. If you only get 1 they may not pair. I now have 5 total and the others just hang out and the 2 that have paired have laid 2 egg batches.

Did you notice any size difference with the two that paired...noticeably different than the others and each other perhaps?

Yeah, there is a very distinguishable size difference between the 2 that paired. The female is bigger. Although my old chromis is still bigger. The pair, compared to the other chromis are about the same size. The paired female is the second largest in the school. I hope that makes sense.

Yes, thank you. I'll let this one grow a little more, then add a smaller one.

you just don't know if they will pair off by adding only 1. I added to my 1 large female left from the first school, 3 of which 1 died, none paired off. I then added 2 more and thats when I ended up with a pair. They need a choice it seems to find a suitable partner. LOL..
