Omaha Marine Society Frag Swap
Attention OMS members, we will be holding a frag swap in conjunction with the selling off of Kurt Molners livestock and corals.
Date: Saturday 4/21/2006 Time:1:00pm-4:00pm Where: Kurt Molners house (address to follow) Many members have seen Kurt Molners tanks through tank tours over the last many years. Corals and fish have outgrown the tank. He will be selling almost all of the corals, live rock, and some of the fish. He will be keeping a few of his prize pieces like the purple brain and a couple of SPS. He may just frag some of the SPS for himself and sell the remainder of the piece. Some of the pieces are extra large branches of frogspawn, green brain, green bali slimmer (SPS), couple of other colored SPS, extra large blue ridge, large and pieces of green montipora, large and pieces of orange montipora, mushrooms, some type of leather like coral possibly Kenya trees, button polyps, brown frilly tonga mushrooms, live rock with corals attached, and more. Live sand most likely will be free once the tank is emptied of rock and corals. Bring your own buckets and bags. Cash only. No check or credit cards. Buy as is with no warranty or guarantees. If unable to catch fish, He will take names and phone numbers and will set up another date and time for pick up after 4/21.. If unable to attend the sale, He is willing to set up a time and date after the 4/21 date in case there is anything left over. Non OMS members must pay a $5 fee to the OMS to attend the sale and frag swap. His equipment is not yet for sale. However, if anyone is interested in something, they can leave their name and phone number and he will contact you if he decides to sell. I think this will be a fun event and a chance for us to trade some our favorite corals with others and pick up some great pieces from Kurt as well. I will be sending out Kurts address later in the week. See you all there. JIM

Well the frag swap part of the gathering didn't do so well with only a few frags actually brought to swap. But those that showed up got some great deals on corals from Kurts tank. People picked up some nice big pieces for a great price. I want to thank Kurt for hosting us and hopefully we can be helpful when he sets up his next tank.

First of all, I would like to say that Kurt practically gave away some amazing pieces from his tank. Those of us that got pieces from his tank should be very thankful. Since I stuck around to ask questions for application to the Creighton tank, I ended up taking home the extra leather and birdsnest frags that were brought. I was wondering who brought those pieces and why is it that everywhere I read, birdsnest is referred to as a 'difficult' species to keep?
Thank you |
