DIY Magnet Powerhead

Anyone out there got any ideas on how to keep the powerheads in place with magnets. There has to be some DIY ideas, I just cant see paying $30 for magnet to hold the powerhead.

I was thinking of just taking a regular magnet and silicon it to a powerhead and place the other magnet on the outside of the tank.

Is there any negative things about having a magnet in the water exposed?

You need to cover the magnet in epoxy of some sort. This will cause it to not corrode and leech out anything into the water.

I use medium sized Magfloats. Siliconed or hot glue gunned to a maxijet. Works great, safe and inexpensive

Wouldnt a magnet holding a powerhead interfere with the internal magnet for the impeller? I would think it might slow it down or put strain on the motor.
