The Big Move
Well today Deana and I made an offer on a new house and they accepted it 30 minutes later.
So looks like the tank is going to get a new home. In order to get it into the new house I think will have to hire a crane. The tank will be in the basement which will help to keep it cool. It’s going to take a lot of work to get it move and then we have to remodel our current house in order to get it on the market. I will keep you all posted on how it goes. I’m not going to tell what house we bought until we close on it. Its about 13 miles away |

When I designed the tank I made sure it would be able to be moved. The bottom supports come off and once you flip it on to its side it is then only 33" wide which will fit through a standard door. I plan to take it slow. I'm going to first setup some tanks to hold everything for at least 6 months. Next move all of the fish, rock, coral. Then move the tank, get it in place and start to put the rocks back in. I'm going try real hard to remove all of the pest from the rocks before they go back into the tank. When I filled the tank the first time I got in a big hurry, I'm really going to take my time durning this move. The house has a outside access to the basement which was the deal maker. I will have to build a ramp for the tank to slide down. It will take a crane to lift the tank off my truck and let it down into the basement. It just too heavy to move with people. I could build something to move it but I think the material cost to build a structure would cost more than a crane for an hour.

let me know when/if you need a hand. I'm right next door in Sidney...........just as a heads up I can recommend a crane/operator for you but the standard charge is min. 4 hrs. no matter how little you use it. It is the same charge from any company but I know these guys pretty well and they are the best i've worked with

If you need help let me know because I need to get out of the house and away from the company. I have access to wagons and vans to haul items. I also have lots of storage room if you need items kept in a warmer environment.

David, are you moving to my old hometown of VG?
![]() I had thought about possibly contacting you to check out your tank when I'm up there for my VG High reunion in May and was going to pass through Philo on my way to Champaign. Hope your move goes well. The pics I've seen on here of your tank have always looked awesome. ![]()

if you can recommend a good crane place that would be great. I don't plan to move the tank until about early summer. Thanks for all of the moving offers, I will let you now what help I need. I think while I move the tank I'm going to cut out the built in sump part to make the tank seem much larger. I will still have the back wave maker area. |

David,
duh dum. duh dum. dum dum dum dum dum dum. "I think you're going to need a bigger truck" Since I helped you put the tank in place, when you need help moving it out be sure to let Bill know. ![]() If it helps, I can get an enclosed trailer with the back door that let's down to a ramp. We'd have to check length. (standard bike trailer). If you think a platform and some rollers would work. 2 stock tanks to offer, plus that 4'x5x1'-ish basin from behind Petstop last year. and some of Steve's hand-me-down barrels. for that matter, a 125 that's not doing anything. Shut up, Todd. ![]() One of the stock tanks is still in the back of the truck, so what's your timetable? Maybe you could rent some space from Inland. ![]() Lowell |

Lowell I think I can move it in the truck. The frame for it came home in the truck.
![]() I might need a stock tank to move some of the rock. I plan to buy a 300G and a 150G stock to use in the new setup. Also I'm taking out then entire wall to get the tank out his time so it won't be as hard. One of the hard parts is going to be getting the tank onto is side. I've never flipped the tank with glass in it. I will keep you all updated on the plans as i go. Thanks David |

Do you have any idea on what it will weigh empty? Because while it may fit, I have no idea on the weight capacity of your truck. Although, knowing you, you've probably tried to calculate all that already. And if there is something I can help with, I'd be glad to try and help.

A trailer would have better support and lower lift height- which would allow pallet jacks to be used. Of course with a fork lift the pup would be great. Renting a trailer would also be cheaper than any damage to the truck- even a tire.
