R/C is always bogged down

I really want to become a premium subscribber to R/C it's very well worth $24/year. Buy question is this, is it really better? I assume you still have the search engine off line but maybe not as often. Will it continue to hang? I'm willing to donate, but does it really get any better?

sometimes it's so bad I give up for the day. I still wonder if it's worth becoming a premium subscriber or not.

Happening to me too. I don't think being a Premium Member will help in this case. Traffic is traffic me thinks.

While we all have obviously had issues with the site because of traffic, I still say supporting RC allows them to upgrade equipment and keep this valuable site available to us all.

How many of us have spent $25 in a year on a fish that didn't make it or a new piece of equipment that now sits unused?

I check RC several times a day and learn new things every visit.

IMHO well worth the $$$!

I prefer to click on their advertising banners once in a while and hope they get paid for the traffic

If they actually worked out deals where stores offer discounts for RC membership I'd be a lot more willing to pay for membership. Otherwise I don't really see the incentive. If they want donations why don't they just approach it that way

ya lately especially its been really bogged up for me. Not even using the search feature either. Like normally i'll just click on a link and it takes 2 seconds to load. But lately i keep getting that stupid "Sorry, server too busy" or whatever whenever i click a link. Altho tonight hasnt been too bad.

My guess is they're trying to fix something (or just change it) on the site and its slowing it down temporarily. That has happened before a few months back.

LOL yeah I love that too. I wish I'd get those more often than the SQL errors.

Dubbin 1, sweet link. I just added it to my favorites. The site does seem to be getting more traffic. I hope they can keep up with the load. As a college student I spend most my day in front of my computer and checking RC gets me through it.

FWIW, I don't pay just for use of the search function.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone. Maybe R/C will post there plans to help eleviate the redicules amount of errors. Again, if there is a plan to make it better I'll donate. BTW Dubbin1, your search engine work around is kind of funny. I wonder how long it will last know.

So why do you pay? To use a site that is constantly having errors or to pay someone for information that came from us users to begin with that didn't get paid for it?

I would pay just to have the site around. There are moderators, staff and advisors who help out. The site costs money to operate and if I had any extra cash I would become a Premium Member twice over.

What's with the bitterness?

I like RC, I like the way it's run, I like the way it's moderated....I've been on other sites. If my miniscule contribution helps keep RC as is, or make it better, then I'll pay.

You do know that they don't get paid right? Anyway, sure its costs money to operate and thats what the sponsors money is for. Just check into how much it costs to become a sponsor. Its just a shame that nobody seems to want to keep it up and running like it should. Heck I got the error message 9 times just trying to post this...

Oh I'm not bitter at all. I just refuse to pay for something that isn't operated very well. If you want to pay then thats great, I don't have a problem with that at all.

Sounds like a "Lounge" thread...

This place already runs on 5 or 6 dedicated servers, if you want faster, pay in for a membership and maybe they can upgrade the mysql server....

Agreed ^^

I think that if more people were premium members (which you can see I am not) that they may be able to fix it.

I am also considering becoming a premium member. I spen about 4 hours a da on RC. I don't know what I'd do without it.
