Kakure-kumanomi = Japanese

Much easier to find than you might think:

http://www.fishbase.org/comnames/Com...StockCode=6830

This link gives you common names in several different languages. I wish I could give you the literal translation--but I can only do that for the scientific name. Sorry

Although I fail to understand how pork fried rice could be at all offensive, for it was mere jest on an online forum, I do apologize to all parties involved.

STsONpERs - The comment you're referring to was in response to a post made by Watch Yo Wrasse, not the thread creator.

Watch Yo Wrasse - If you fail to understand why your comment was offensive perhaps that is the problem. You should concentrate on figuring out why people might take offense to comments like that so you can prevent embarassing yourself in the future.

I must really be stupid cause I have no idea what all the fuss is about If someone wants to pm an explanation, I'd be interested though.

Thanks for the link Amphiprion, that helps! BTW you have no name in your sig ---I know how to spell "Amphiprion now, but I was going to have to start calling you "Nemo"! lol j/k

I almost hesitate to ask -lol - but any literal translations of common names for "clownfish" in any Asian language would be most appreciated

Ahem, excuse me but the problem lies in the fact that someone can take "offense" to a comment in an online medium and may go as far as saying that the aforementioned pork fried rice taste like racism. The limited mindset of individuals such as those is where the "problem" is. For as far as I am concerned, there never was a problem to begin with yet I apologized and wrongfully thought the ordeal to be over. Alas! you couldn't resist the itch to play the knight in shinning armor, but I must inform you also of the fact that you did not remove your head from your rectum before you started typing the gibberish that appears in your post advising me to not engage in embarrassing endeavours in the future. And so, for you ability, or lackthereof, to predict the future, I must commend you.

^The fact that you are inclined to take things lightly when it comes to things relating to Asian (for e.g. making jokes and then not providing the real answer) when the thread starter created this thread for a real answer is where your comment is perceived as racist. It's the same thing as you, for example, asking what's the English word for "orangutan" (Indonesian) and someone responds a "blonde"... would you appreciate it? Hey, it's only a joke.

Back to topic, I wouldn't know the Chinese/ Japanese words for a clownfish.
