Red Sea Salt. good or bad?

What kind of salt do you guys use with your sps? I have a whole bucket of red sea and not quite sure if it's beneficial to sps. suggestions?

I used Red Sea when I started out. It suited my needs just fine. I switched to Reef Crystals after getting into SPS and now I'm going to give the SeaChem a try. I'll see how the SeaChem does and then I might try the Red Sea Pro Reef. I still don't know why I don't use NSW, I live 10min from the beach. I'd just have to find a good collection area that I feel is free from as many pollutants as possible.

I recently started using Red Sea Pro salt and I like it. One thing I really noticed was you gotta mix the whole bucket (I buy the 55g buckets) to get a true mix. I was mixing only two 10g at a time and would get mixed params. Now I just mix everything in a 55g bin and I get,

SG: 1.025
ALK: 8.5
CA: 430
MG: 1320

My only gripe is that the salt takes forever to dissolve.

I used to use red sea and did not like it. It was my first salt and I didn't know any better until I tested freshly made salt water .. it was low in alk and calcium. To me, that's important.

I think a few of these people are talking normal Red Sea Salt, not Red Sea Coral Pro.

I think it's a pretty good salt, parameters match out nicely (like IsaaX's) and it's pretty darn cheap. I revolve it with KZ Reefer's Best. (also a side note, I think Red Sea Coral Pro has a good K number, I need to test a batch, but my K doesn't drop when I use this salt).

SeaChem was not having any problems with their salt. Some people had bad batches, but that happened a while ago and was already resolved.

The only thing you should take notice when using SeaChem Reef Salt is that due to the higher than NSW levels of borate or born in their salt. Alkalinity test kits are thrown off a bit and a few adjustments will need to be made. It's nothing too complicated though. I've been using Seachem RS for 10 months and I have not had a problem with anything. I've been noticing better coloration on some acros and better polyp extension.
