my intro...again

I introducted myself in October but I haven't been on the board so I figured I would re-introduce myself and give an update on our tank. My name is Liz and my husband is John, we have 3 kids, 2 dogs, a cat and a 24 gallon reef. John is active duty army, I am a full time student, mom, and wife. My oldest is homeschooled, and the other two aren't school age yet. We are normally kept busy and due to the kids it is hard for us to make plans to be anywhere I a happy note though we will soon be getting a 90 gallon tank and setting it up as a reef.

Our tank is a aquapod, and here is what we currently have in it :
live sand (approx. 2 inches deep)
live rock (approx. 15-20 pounds)
15 Blue Leg Hermit Crabs
2 Turbo Snails
2 Margarita Snails
5 Nassarius Snails
5 Nerite Snails
1 Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
2 Clown Fish
1 Bicolor Blenny
1 Green Chromis
and a small group of zoo's (brown and orange)

We are looking for some more corals, but need to find them at cheap prices (3 kids don't leave us with a lot of money).

I think that covers it.

Alright, I guess I should toss a word in here so that way y'all will know who I am too.
I am John (Liz's husband).

Our 24 gal. pod is still a work in progress for now. It may turn into a quarantine tank once we set up a 90 gal or larger (I am thinking 120, but Liz says no to that), but we may keep it going once it is fully established and stocked. If we go that route, we have looked at getting either a 12 gal pod or something of that sort for a quarantine/treatment tank.

So far, I am beginning to do research on how to best set up a 90 or 120 gal aquarium. Right now, the only definite things are going to be the sump and refugium. Everything else will be figured out before we get the set up.

I think thats about it. Liz seems to have summed up the rest.

Xenia... hmmm... Liz would probably want to try and get a frag of that. I'll have to ask her.

Our kids are Kali (7 yrs old), Rian (3 in March), and Erik (turned 1 today). The boys are a handful and then some most of the time so most outings are quite eventful, especially if Rian gets loose and running around. Before the summer, Liz got the crazy idea to give Rian a mohawk, and I thought we would let it grow out pretty quick afterwards, but that is one perfect cut for him. It fits him and his personality perfect. Our last visit to Pet Palace, I caught him at the end of the SW tanks playing around with the base Fiji LR in the tub. He was having a great time moving the rocks around and checking everything out.
I go back to work on the 4th, so depending on my schedule and how everything else pans out, we are definitely looking at making it down to the swap on the 20th.
Hope to meet you all there.

John/Liz: I have some Anthelia that has to be fragged. I will be more that happy to give you some. The rock you were inquiring about has some green stripped shrooms and kenya tree growing on it. I'm still looking for the baby BTA, but suppose it moved off some where though!

Looking forward to talking with you...PM sent.

John/Liz; it was nice meeting you this evening. Hope you enjoy all the goodies for the tank. It should fill it up pretty good!

Dave,

Thanks for everything. John got it all in there and it did fill it up Everything seems to be doing good, and eatting fine. John ended up rigging another powerhead in there to help with the water flow. I got a call from my mother in law today and I forgot my digital camera up in MI so I will take some pictures of it as soon as possible and get them up on here.

Thanks Dave, I would like both the rock and the frag. If you could hold on to them a little while...my actinics (the whole back row) has gone out, I find it odd that two PC bulbs would burn out at the same time...I'm trying to get hubby to look at the wiring if he ever gets a chance, before buying new bulbs...so for now I'm only running 130w for the whole tank and let me tell you, I pretty sure the coral are about to go on strike or run away . I'll PM you when I figure out what's going on with the lighting. Thanks again!
