my cap over the last six months has started to grow at a 90 degree angle and the new growth is now shadowing many spaces keeping them from max light any suggestions

frag the piece how you want it. Sort of like a bonsai tree

I've noticed that on my last tank when I had my monti cap high and centered in the tank with high flow from both sides that it grew flat plates. What I would do was frag off the lower plates and keep the nice flower like center. Now that I have the monti on one side it seems to grow more cup like growth. I still frag the lower levels so I don't disturb the center look.

When you frag it the shaded areas will be light colored flesh but after exposure to light for awhile they will turn full colored.
