monti cap growth
my cap over the last six months has started to grow at a 90 degree angle and the new growth is now shadowing many spaces keeping them from max light any suggestions

my monti cap has always grown perfectly paralell to the surface of the water. yours may be trying to do the same thing

I've noticed that on my last tank when I had my monti cap high and centered in the tank with high flow from both sides that it grew flat plates. What I would do was frag off the lower plates and keep the nice flower like center. Now that I have the monti on one side it seems to grow more cup like growth. I still frag the lower levels so I don't disturb the center look.
When you frag it the shaded areas will be light colored flesh but after exposure to light for awhile they will turn full colored.
