Ricordia new one.
I tried to use 2.5 gallon tanks for the last 2 spawns and have lost both spawns within 24 hours. I think the tank is to small with the turbulents from the airstone and the fry take a beating. I will now only go 5 gallon as with my current living babies and will keep you posted. SO i would say for now no smaller than a 5 gallon.

definetly get the 5 gallon no 2.5's there is just no room and the bubbles beat them downa as there is no where for them to hide, I think. No other way to explain the survival in the 5 gal and the death in 2.5 with no variation and exact same equipment.

Give it some time! Mine only start to hatch around 30 minutes after lights out. Keep the room dark too cause that can affect the hatching process. I know its hard to stay out and not peek

Ok I just check back and there are only 7 in the tank and the rest is still not hatched out yet. I just added a heater and the air to the tank. I will post some pics tomorrow, hopefully they'll be alive.

I always had a better survival rate if I turned the light on in the rearing tank right after the hatch and I would leave it on for the first 24 hours. This way they had more time to learn how to hunt food befor their yolk sacs ran out.

Well I think the male is eating the eggs, there was about 20 left to go tonight and now there are only about 10. I don't know why he would be eating the eggs, sometimes I feed them 3-4 times daily.
Anyway here is a pic of the fry snagger at work.

The male may have cleaned up a little. The other eggs may have been empty shells that had remained on the rock, or contained babies that died trying to get out of the egg last night. It is also very possible that some of the eggs hatched after you went to bed.

I know all clowns are different, but when I have had partial hatches, keeping all the lights and pumps off for an extra 1/2 hour to an hour before collecting, solved the problem with the next spawn. In my case that meant turning the lights/pumps off sooner, not staying up later.

These things are killing me I waited for 3 1/2 hours and they didn't hatch. I went to bed and this morning nothing was there.
I guess next hatch

RicordiaKing- keep the chin up...anything worth doing takes forever to complete..

Regarding the larval snagger- I found it best if the coffee filter is up off the bottom of the tank. I suspend mine using clamps to hold the bottle section up. Larvae can get trapped under the filter between the filter and the tank bottom and get crushed. Just an observation.

Looking good though...keep up the good work and keep us posted!

I am feeling your pain. Not only are you new at raising fry(at least I think you are), you are trying to raise possibly the most difficult of all clown fry.
Hang in there.
I felt that adding Ocean Nutrition's VHP formula to the parent's diet, seemed to increase the strength of my orange skunk fry.
