i looked at the ecotech but could not get my hands on one. I would have loved to have seen one working and get a feel for them.
The bluethroat is a pelagic feeder, they only eat foods in the wtare column. the mouth faces upwards. He eats all the foods i add but loves to nibble on nori as well. It has never bothered any inverst i have had nor clams.

I have had a good experience with my SEIOs for the past 5 months or so without any significant. I am sorry to hear about your experiences with cracked impellers, etc. I would love to know if those experiences are more global, or if you guys simply had some bad eggs.
Also, I would like very much to know what Tunzes you are talking about that you can get at a price that isn't that much more then a SEIO. I think the Tunzes are great, but have only found them to be MUCH more expensive. From what I see out there, these are the sorts of prices you can expect on the web, as well as Watts & GPH of each powerhead. Code:
Powerhead Price GPH Watts GPH/$ GPH/W ------------------------+---------+------+-------+-------+-------- SEIOs SEIO M620 | $37.95 | 620 | 8 | 17.7 | 77.5 SEIO M820 | $52.95 | 820 | 18 | 15.5 | 45.6 SEIO M1100 | $62.95 | 1100 | 21 | 17.5 | 52.4 SEIO M1500 | $69.95 | 1500 | 34 | 21.4 | 44.1 SEIO M2600 | $74.95 | 2600 | 55 | 34.7 | 47.3 ------------------------+---------+------+-------+-------+-------- Tunzes #1 Tunze 6060 | $137.19 | 1600 | 11 | 11.7 | 145.5 Tunze 6080 | $199.55 | 2250 | 17 | 11.3 | 132.5 ------------------------+---------+------+-------+-------+-------- Tunze #2 Tunze 6000 | $259.96 | 1850 | 15 | 7.1 | 123.3 Tunze 6100 | $332.93 | 3175 | 45 | 9.5 | 70.6 Tunze 6200 | $451.44 | 5283 | 62 | 11.7 | 85.2 * Tunze #1 = Non-Adjustable Speed Tunze Turbelle Streams * Tunze #2 = Adjustable Speed Tunze Turbelle Streams

Very nice database there. Thank you for sharing. If I could, I would get a controllable Tunze for my 29g, but you know me and money. Cheap, cheap, cheap.
As far as your question about Seios goes, yes it is a global thing. Albiet, less often than a Rio, but Seios are known to have a run of trouble. It seems like they are either really good, improve with age, or suck from the very beginning. Rios on the other hand suck almost all the way around. So, though Seios are inexpensive, you might pay the same amount as a reliable Tunze trying to get the thing to work right. Or you might be lucky. Buying a Seio seems to be a game of Roullette. Or you can shell out a ton of money and get a reliable Tunze

So, do they usually fail soon enough to return them and get a replacement? Also, how does Taam customer service respond? Do they acknowledge the problem and send out replacements or new impellers, etc? Have people tried that route? Just curious... And, of course, in the end you often/usually/always get what you pay for...

I personally have been selling about 40 seios a month for the last 8 months or so and have only had two returns. Whether or not people have had problems with them and not mentioned anything to me I cannot say obviously. The new seio controller should be available soon also. There are cheaper places to buy the seios than that also. You can buy brand new seios off e-bay for
Seio 620 29.99 Seio 820 39.99 Seio 1500 59.99 Seio 2600 62.99 |

Hmmm very interesting
An lfs saying you can get better prices of e-bay That said, the lfs I visit has higher prices but excellent customer service I run 2 820 in my 90 18 months no problems, They always restart when the power comes back on During a thunder storm they will click, but the TV will not flicker I had 2 1500 and had to trade down On the controller I think is pie in the sky If they did put one out any power head would work on it I hope they can get it to work Ken

And those magnetic powerhead holders are awesome. I surely will be getting a pair for my SEIOs in a couple of months when I have the money.

Yea, the good folks at OG&E double the rates in the summer months for us commercial folks. It seems they live in a evil parallel universe where instead of a bit of a discount the more you buy, you have to pay double!!!!!! But at least they "say" they care in the commercials....
Last month was 1K!!! |

I hate the monopoly that OG&E has. They have, without a doubt, the WORST customer service I have EVERY dealt with...

the commission stipulates that OG&E has to purchase power from the cheapest source (buy from WFEC, KP&L, TU, etc), if OG&E cannot generate power at a lower cost. If you research, you will find that some of the lowest rates are in the mid-section of the United States. As far as small commericial rates, OG&E went to the Commission to even out the field, because the small businesses were subsidising the larger ones, like GM, Firestone, and the like. Big Business had better lawyers than OG&E and convinced the Commission that their rates needed to remain lower. The East & West coast have much higher rates and would love for the central part of the US to deregulate. What would happen is the coastal rates would drop & the central areas would go up (the almost empty glass & the full glass example). The Winter rates are low $ because OG&E can supply the existing load with its coal fired plants (cheap). The Summer months are higher $$ because the increased load (air conditioners, etc.). So the gas fired plants (or peaking units) come on line (expensive). Just look at the ONG bills for gas. OG&Es profit margin is fixed by the Cororation Commission too. Quote:
The state has territorial boundries (TBAs) in which other electric providers are not allowed to cross. PSO is almost as large as OG&E. There are a multitude of Coops which supply the areas outside the larger metro locations. As far as service goes, everyone complains about their service no matter what utility they are on. I even complain about mine, sometimes...I work for the Company! (believe me, there are worse utilities out there) R. Last edited by 2ras; 06/09/2006 at 08:18 PM. |

Hmmm.... No Monopoly eh? Just so happens that I have some experience with the Corp Commission as well as OG&E. All I can say is stick around for maybe three years and see what happens. Things will change. ALthough, rates will never really drop. Sorry Gary.
