Very cool. And on a bright note for myself, I got a new panel siliconed in the end of my 55G tank tonight. Should hopefully be filling it back up next weekend.

(sorry for hijacking - you may now resume your regularly scheduled thread)

Paul, the tank looks awesome... Seems you have an air stone in there ?? I am guessing it's a temp setup until your skimmer is on line ?? Do you know about how much rock you have in there ??

that was the bubbles created from the temporary return from the sump, it wasnt an airstone.

I estimate about 400-500lbs.

Its hard to believe---based on how good it looks already-- but i know it will be even better!

Its getting better and better....

I do however want to rework the LHS, its too steep...but that can wait till after I have stripped the old tank out completely.

I have 30lb rocks with dozens to hundreds of mushrooms on.
I have one watermelon rock with at least 250 mushrooms....finding a holding space for all of those is tough.

anyhow....its getting there and the people who have come by seem to like it.

Just wanted to say I had the honor of witnessing paul's tank in person today--aboslutely gorgeous and extremely well desined. I told my wife when I got home that we may be converting our garage soon to a giant aquarium. Paul--absolutely incredible!!!!

The tank is truly amazing, it dwarfs the 220 in comparison. It's hard to believe that's 300lbs of rock, there is so much space. Truly amazing and beautiful already.

Paul,
Thanks for letting me see your tank!
It is impressive, with well thought out plumbing, etc. I love the shelving for the rock work.

Did I mention BIG....

Patience is the hardest learned virtue in marine aquaria but once learned, it is the most priceless...and by the way--if your tank looks this good now--imagine a few months once you have "tweaked" it to your liking!

well....the tank is clearing more and more. I have added my fish and here are a few pics:

here are 8 feet of water with corals, view from RHS.

the RHS of the canyon

the LHS wall and canyon

and probably my favorite picture so far, the corner view.

once i get the lights sorted and more corals added, should start to look like the image I have in my mind.

BTW....anyone want a large stone crab....large. Also have a nice urchin as well, lived from a urchin-ette in my reef for over a year and never caused a problem. First PM gets them.

Why dont you have a little stone crab appetizer tomorrow night?
