well that was fun...

So here I am with the small piece of glass top taken off of the tank so I can do a little work. I pick up my phone to txt my wife and one of my cats decides to jump up on the tank. She does a nose-dive into the water, I flip out, drop the phone (in front of the tank), grab the cat and pull her out. She's freaked and has her claws out, and I get sliced between my left ring finger and pinky. She runs away, I pick up my phone to see water under the screen and the power is off. Yank out the battery and throw the phone down, grab a towel and wipe down the cat. Cleaned the cut with some peroxide because not only is it a cat scratch, it now has tank water in it.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go point the blow dryer at the phone and the carpet.

Makes up for the boring day at work, lol.

I would take that cat to pound asap!

LOL, I don't like anyone or anything around my tank when I work on it, you never know what could happen esp if you have a little one hanging around. They always have a way of getting under you when your trying to work.

No way! That cat won't jump on the tank again after this experience. But if you want to be sure, put it out of the room if you're going to take the top off your tank.

haha no, I think I'll keep her.

My cats always watch the tank, so them being around it is nothing new or worrysome for me. She was just sitting on the arm of the couch, it didn't look like she was going to jump

crap. My phone works....kinda. I have the LG V so I have 2 keypads. Well, the inside keypad doesn't work at all. The outside keypad mostly works, but the end button doesn't work. My screen will now randomly tell me I'm using the car kit. I can send a txt. don't know about receiving yet. I can't make a call though. I don't know if they can hear me, but I sure can't hear them. Then the call drops in like 30 sec

DANGIT.

I'm like 1 month away from the new-every-2 thing

Lol. Note to self: when I get that 700g tank, keep a lid on it and keep the cats away.

HAHAHAHA Oh man I had somthing like that happen last month! I was sitting in front of my tank on a chair and one of my cats jumped to the top, well he missed and if you can picture his front feet holding onto my sunpod and his back legs kicking and splashing water all in my face and all over me *LOL* My wife said she could see the cats legs in the tanks kicking and swimming haha. I had so much water on me by the time I got him out that I had to take a shower.

Oh I've had a cat in the sump many of times, usually one of the kittens we are fostering see's the shimmering water and their eyes glass over and you see the jump coming before you can do anything. Now I have a kitten I'm watching for one of my g/f's class mates who's visiting while on break, and come to find out it likes to swim. I've been watching her closely!!

Also Jasonh check the plus signs on both the battery and the phone, if they are completely wet you can't replace it. If it still has plus signs take it to the store and say it just stopped working. LG V's have lots of issues so they are used to it. I'm going to the venus next because this is the 3rd V that I've had that the front screen decided to stop working.

Without being wet even!!

wait, the pluses go away when wet? Crap I thought they turned pink. Mine are pink, I don't remember if they've always been pink. I thought maybe blue. I'll have to double check.

I am 2 months away from my new-every-2 and I have the insurance on the phone, so hopefully I can get them to just give me the deal early or something. Or maybe I'll threaten to go to ATT for the iphone or something I guess this means I have to hold off on the new T5's for another few weeks

The only issue I've had with the V is dirt and stuff gets behind the inside screen really easily and doesn't come out. That, and lately it's been all wonky with the volume sometimes. Not that it matters, since all I can do is txt on the phone now. And since I had my txt's on vibrate only, and vibrate doesn't work, I can't really tell when I get a txt And, I have to use the front keypad to txt, which I totally suck at now that I'm used to the nice big qwerty keyboard.

Oh and what I really love is my alarm is set for 7am M-F and I can't change it now, since you can only access that setting from the inside keypad. Lovely.

oh not so good yeah check and see if the phone part has pluses on mine both the battery and the phone have em. for the model I have they are a sort of purplish-red and on the battery they are red pluses (or x's depending on which way your looking at them.)

The alarm part is kinda crapy that its coming up that way no way around that I think unless your arrow keys and ok key are working.

Jason,
Just on a side note, Verizon will let you upgrade at 18 months (at least they have for me several times).

That's good news. We're gonna go to Verizon tomorrow and try to get a new phone. I'm probably going to get the Blue Mint Chocolate. I want to get the Voyager, but I $300 for a phone is a bit steep right now. Luckily they've made improvements over the original chocolate - I can't stand that touchpad on my wife's chocolate.

As for the pluses, they're still there. The battery side is pink, the phone side is purplish. Looks like the + side of the battery the white part is a bit pink like it would be washed out if I dunked it...but you can still see the +. So hopefully they won't have an issue with it.

So, sometimes the sound/ringer on the phone works. I had the voice announce thing turned on, but that no longer works. But, the actual ringtone works. On the other hand, that sound it makes when you miss a call doesn't. And, the alarm doesn't work, lol. The phone lights up and says the alarm is going off, but no sound.

Sometimes the backlight doesn't go off either, lol.

Man, this thing is just jacked up.

My wife just got the LG Venus, and loves it. It's like the "big brother" to the chocolate. Just a thought. I could never replace my Envy, I LOVE this thing!!!! Good luck...and if you get a "no" at the store, call their customer service number and throw a fit, you would be amazed at how much they can do that stores can't.

agreed with Dirt, thats what I did the one time my phone got wet, which was a freak of nature accident, where my roof leaked onto my phone that was great...
but yeah if they are still there you may have hope yet! you'll just need to get a new battery.

Hmm. I can still see the all the pluses, but one side of the batter it looks like the ink bled a little (I'm assuming that's what its supposed to do). I'll have to take a pic of it later.

I had it on the charger all night and I'm already down to 2 bars, which is a rarity for as little as I've used it today. Guess I screwed the battery

I've read a little on the venus. It doesn't seem bad, but it's $250. The chocolate should only be like $120 or something. If I'm gonna pay that much, I'll just get the voyager. But I'd rather have a cheaper phone and still be able to get some new T5's

Here is how the little pluses on the battery and phone look

Will try to go to the Verizon store tomorrow night or sometime this weekend. Hopefully I don't get any flak from them.

Get a good lawyer and sue the cat. They'll take the settlement out of you homeowners liability insurance and then just split the money with the cat (as long as she agrees to testify for you)!

lol.

We'll see what they say. I'd rather not have to buy a new battery just to get them to let me pay for a new phone. I think I'll just try the "my phone no longer works, can I get my new-every-2 discount early?" route first
