(working now?)
Hi RobbyG, The chart is great. One thing I was wondering, was if any controllers use a three-point system during calibration of pH probes. IOW the calibration process uses 10.0, 7.0, AND 4.0 solutions, instead of just the typical two-solution method of 10.0 and 7.0. These controllers would give much more accurate pH readings for the probe, because they could calculate the characteristic response curve of the individual probe. (Probes are not linear.) Also, during recalibration over the life of the probe, a three-point system does a better job compensating for an aging probe. It might be worthwhile to note this on the chart if there are any controllers that offer this feature. |

Morty I have not seen any controller that uses 3 points, I doubt it would help the accuracy a whole lot.

When I go to aquariumcontrollers.com and the reveiws nothing there, what's up with that?
Nobody has given you feedback on their controller? this may be just a heads up something is wrong with the site

There are no big reviews of controllers yet. For now you can look at the user feedback for comments on some models.

Thanks, I'll end up doing one on the Biotope eventually, I just don't have it up doing all the things it could be doing.
Very well built unit and Ron is A+ to deal with

RobbyG,
On your chart, one of the rows is listed as 'Complex Programming Commands'. Can you give a brief example of what that is? Thanks for such a great tool! Brian |

Complex programming would be considered the ability for an action to be taken based on more than one parameter changing, and not just one. But the parameters must be interchangeable not just a question of hitting them in the right order.
For example a controller taking One action if the Salinity is Low and Tank level is also Low. like Topping up with a SW mix Versus another action if the Salinity is Normal and the Tank level is Low then it Tops up with Ro Water. Quote:

RobbyG - Do you have a review on the iks aquastar not the iks aquastar midi. Also I just saw a Biomatix displayed at LFS. Do you have a review yet for the Biomatix?

Aquastar
No that was something that should have been done a long time ago. In January I will be over this huge work load and be able to spend time updating the Chart. Biomatix I kind of gave up on them about 6 months ago. After numerous phone calls I still could not get any real info as to when they would release the product to the public. I got the distinct impression that they really are not interested in selling it to the public but intent it to just be used as a tool for LFS and profesional installers. Did you actually see one for sale or was it just being used by the LFS? Whenever it is available to the public I will happily and quickly add it to the Chart. Quote:

RobbyG - The Fish Gallery in Houston had a non-working display being setup, so I ask around the store but no one knew anything about it. Personally I think Biomatix System waited way to long to bring this to public!!!
On the iks Aquastar, do you thing it is worth looking at or is Profilux or Aquatronica a better product. Last edited by reef / aholic; 12/24/2007 at 09:45 AM. |

Re Aquatronica and Profilux vs Aquastar, I really can't comment on which is better but I think the chart kind of gives you an idea of which is better in what area's.
I agree about the Biomatix, I also think they just took way to long to get it to market. |

As too the triple calibration, we don't even use three calibration points doing simple analytical chemistry in school.
