Tough deciding on two rare fish
I seen on the divers den that they have a pair of these roseafacia Fairies
http://liveaquaria.com/diversden/Ite...2112&siteid=20 And a mitratus butterfly at a great price!! http://liveaquaria.com/diversden/Ite...7255&siteid=20 Which would you go with? I have alot of fairies and I have heard that roseafacia can get aggressive. Which would you go with? Scott

Well, 300 is still overpriced on the Butterfly, and Mitratus aren't great beauties, and you DO collect Fairy Wrasses it seems...
I'd go with the Wrasses IIWY. |

mitratus aren't as beautiful as other butterflies, but that is a steal since they are rather rare...
what would it be going in with??

Thanks guys I been leaning on the mitratus butterfly for some diversity in the tank. I would like the pair of Roseafacia but i have heard of them being the more agggressive of the fairy wrasses and I would hate to see world war three occur.
zemuron114, as of right know I have a trio of Flame wrasses, pair of lineatus, pair of laboutei's, and a pair of rhomboids. Not sure of the roseafacia will fit in with the others.

you can find roses for much cheaper. maybe not a supermale like that but they do grow. i never got my supermale to eat but the smaller one i had was very hardy. then again you cant beet the gaurantee!
p.s. my rose and rhomboid fought often and the rhomboid lost. just an fyi

Why did you sell your original roseafacia?

I have kept Mitratus and they are really nothing special. If you are considering butteflies I think the Tinker's are much more interesting than the Mitratus.

Rosefacias look a lot like flames which could cause some trouble

Just saw a large Roseafacia at a LFS today. Eh, not very impressive. I'd get the B/F.

Sounds like you made a good decision considering the possible (or probable even) aggression from the fairy. Based on looks alone, I'd have gotten the butterfly, too. I think they look fantastic.

They're not that rare as you may think haha But get the wrasse since you have such a collection. If you have corals def stay away from the butterfly.

I say fairy wrasse, because I collect them too (but I can get rhomboids for $75 and lineatus for $35, since I can get direct from the importer, so its a little different as I wouldnt spend $500 on a rhomboid... ever).
Any suggestions on other cool 'select' fairy wrasses would be appreciated though... there is that one similar to a lineatus that Im thinking about... pylei. Thinking about that one, and another similar one... rubrimarginatus.

I was looking at those fairies and for the price they arent all that impressive...Id go with the butterfly or just wait for a nicer pair of fairies to come up. The diversden has fairy wrasses all the time that are much nicer looking than those IMO.

I had a male pylei for about two years when they first were being imported. I noticed they can be on the little aggressive side. Mine had the personality of a dottyback. He was a beautiful little fish but at times can be the spawn of satan. Also I noticed they need a female to keep there colors from my experience or they will fade. The pink margins are beautiful specimens. I haven't noticed them popping up lately on LA. I would say they are the poor man's lineatus. The male I use to have use was extremely friendly to everyone in the tank. The only one he didn't care for was the mystery wrasse. I also noticed you need a female for the male pink margins to keep there color. But again every fish is different. Scott

Gasman, yeah, when I get them, they were in the ocean just a month ago, yes. I take the risk that they may die as well and a box of 50 might end up being a box of 5 (or none)... just like a wholeseller takes that risk. Lineatus seem to be pretty okay shippers though, along with rhomboids. Temmincki's though... ugh. Those things must freak out when they just see a bag.
