Fred,
Judging from your pics of that acan, I would say it is VERY healthy and happy where it is. I wouldn't move it. Have you noticed any growth since you added it to your system? Do you feed anything to your corals? Phyto, Golden Pearls, Cyclop-eeze?

Hey Vince
To be honnest I haven't see any real growth but it is doing well. I am feeding Cyclop-eeze right now and heard that reefroids would be good also. What do you think? |

I ran some test last night and here are the results:
Nitrates: 0 Phosphates: 0 Ca: 400 KH: 9 MG: 1300 Now the only thing I don't get is that I have a fuge set up which I've been growing cheato in and everything is fine. But in the same time I have a bit of bryopsis in the tank that keeps growing as well. My test are giving me a 0 for phosphates. Why do I keep having that algae problem? My skimmer is working fine so as the fuge. I don't overfeed because I only have four fish in there. Please help Thanks |

Fred,
Most phosphate tests on the market are very unreliable, and the ones that are reliable are very expensive. So you might have phosphates but your test is not showing you them. The other thing is that the bryopsis might be binding up the nitrates and phosphates. It may or may not be related, but when was the last time you changed out the filters on your RO unit?

Yeah I was thinking about that this morning. I guess that's the problem.
I never change it since two years even though the TDS meter is giving me a big ''0'' Hey Vince do you have a brand name of those expensive phosphate tests and are they easy to get? Thanks |

What is the original timeframe to change your RO usually?

Fred,
Here's where you can get the test kit locally. It's a Merck kit repackaged by Deltec. http://www.reefsolution.com/catalog/...oducts_id=1124 As for the RO filters... wow... 2 years huh? I'd go ahead and change those when you get a chance. When I had my system running, I changed the filters every 3 months.

Thanks for the info. Like said it's a little more expensive but I'm pretty sure it's worth it.
Did you ever bought some? |

No I did change them the 3 sediment filters back in February. But I think I'm up to change the RO now and an other set of sediment filters.

Hope I will see a difference. |

Sediment and carbon last around 6-12months each.
Get 1micron filter or less. How are the reading?
