[welcome]

it would help if you told us a lil bit about the aquarium

what size tank./dimensions.

what kind of skimmer/filtration.

how much and what kind of flow?

what kind of light .

what are the tanks parameters how long has it been set up?

your tank is too small for an anemone but there are other things that you can have that the clowns might host in including frogspawn coral or a brain coral or a leather.
it is hard to keep a small tank stabil enough for an anemone anyway

Yeah, any of the hosting species will likely outgrow your tank pretty fast...kinda disappointing, isn't it? I won't be able to get my Ocellaris a nem until I upgrade either.

Yep, they will host just about anything that they want...frogspawn is a good substitute host. I've had mushrooms work, star polyps, xenia, zoanthid mats, heck, even a feather duster(craziest darn thing I've ever seen). Pretty much anything in the tank that is alive CAN be a host. Whether your clowns WILL host anything at all is really up to them...

that is false gsmguy. you can definetly keep a bta in a 10 gallon. go to nanoreef.com almost all those guys over there are doing it with alot of success. ive even had a pair of clowns spawn with a bta in a 10 gallon.

ok put a bta in when it takes over the whole tank trade it for a smaller one
i can only advise from my own experience with my 20g and it is difficult to keep all the params in check. i do keep a BTA in there but it would take up the whole 10g tank and its not even that big.

also ocellaris are not totally proven with hosting a BTA they often ignore them. but of course there is only one way to know for sure.
