Visi-jet protein skimmer

Has anybosy tried one of these cheap protein skimmers, and what do you think about it.

use the powerhead as an MJ mod, and the contact chamber could be your riser column for your first DIY skimmer.

Seriously, it was a poor second to the seaclone, which was pretty poor in itself. it was a b!tch to set up, the first ones had a recall on the impeller as they kept jamming, and the cup was far too small... it holds about a shot-glass of skimmate when full!

there are some excellent plans for skimmers on the DIY pages, I've made an absolute beast out of a polycarbonate pasta jar and a load of plumbing parts... it's easy and cheap, and much more satisfying when you pull out a pint of dark brown sh!te from your tank!
