Not looking good. How old is your tank? Lighting and water parameters?

about 5 months, fluorescent compact 96 watts. water is good. salinity 1.024 ph is 8.3
nitrates 0 nitrites 0 ammonia 0 and calcium reads fine on the test.

Not nearly enough light for this anemone, borderline on the maturity of the tank, salinity IMO should be 1.026. The anemone will never make it with 96 watts of PC lighting on 65 gallon tank.

Yeah man, gotta push up lighting.. I'm at 300 Watts Metal Halide, and I still wish I could go more.

I recommend taking it back to the LFS or offering it to a local reefer.

im bummed. no one told me 96 watts wasnt going to be efficient enough to have an anemone. if i knew that was the case i would have waited longer and bought a hallite. sorry if im being short. but thats what i meant by awesome.

i had a 26 wat pc in a nano cube with a nem, he flourished for around 5 months, then he had an untimely death not related to lighting.

It's cool man, just do your reading up on things, and if you ever are hesitant, post a question on here! Usually get answered within a few hours or so. Best bet is to take it back and trade it for some Zoanthids or something.. when you can finally save up for or just buy a halide, thats when you're in business.. http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...ed.asp?CartId=

I'm using two of them on my 50 gallon breeder which is only 18 inches deep, your tank is 20, not too much of a difference, but just research research research. I'm in the process of building a S. Haddoni and A. Polymnus species tank right now.. Fun stuff! Hope this helps out bro!

if it was in the 12 thats probably why he died, water not being stable, lighting wasn't good enough, powerhead accident, or just stress from being in such a small tank.

What kind of anemone? I'm surprised it lasted that long. And how big / small of nano?

Do consider the anemone's life. If the LFS won't take it back, please offer it to a local reefer who may be able to save it.

same type as hers, it was 12 gal. I used to have one a couple of years ago. he died because i left the house and my mom tried to get a unwated fish out of my tank and smashed it with a rock.

Dumb? Never considered that, not sure why you got so rude. Was simply stating if your LFS would not take it back offer it up to another person.

Don't jump me because I offered to help you when you purchased an animal when you had no clue how to take care of it.

Your anemone will NOT get any better in the environment that YOU have provided for it.

Thank you XBAMBAMX, if that wasn't the rudest post ever I don't know what could be, I went out of my way to help this person that didn't have any idea how to take care of this animal. Thought I did it with the best of my knowledge and considerate of a newbie, just tried to offer an alternative if the LFS didn't take it back.

Nobody is trying to insult you, if you were considering the animals life you wouldn't of bought the anemone in the first place. So YOU messed up in the first place, all we were trying to do was offer you some different ways of taking it back, and maybe getting something that will live in the conditions your tank is currently in. You may not be ready for the whole reef thing yet if you're getting this upset over something so simple..

We can't help your anemone with your lighting. Go ahead and get ******ed, but do it at yourself not anyone else. Your the one who did this to the anemone, not me.
