Tunze power head users....questions?
I have a 92 gallon corner tank. I was wondering how many heads to use or could I get away with using one? I currently have 3 maxi jets 400,900,and a 600 plus the return line from a Mag 7 pump. I would like to get a little more wave action in the tank with less dead spots, but not enough to blow stuff over. I currently have a nice mix of SPS and LPS corals. Your thoughts?????

I would go with two 6000 streams on a muilti or single controller. This way you will get a little more control over your flow. Should be good for a mixture of SPS and LPS corals.

I would ask Roger in the Tunze forum. A couple 6000 would work or for less $$ you could go with a couple 6045s.
The fact that the tunzes provide a much wider flow than the Maxijets, should make your corals nice and happy,

if you can swing it 2 6000 and the 7095 multi-controller

2x6000 or one 6100 with a 6200 shroud for wider flow

I would go for at least two 6000s and a multicontroller.

I have 2 6000s on a multicontroller on a 75 and it's sweet. But a bit spendy. You could always get one 6000 and the 7095 multicontroller to start and add another 6000 later.
The new nano 6055s will be coming out soon (month or so) that take up less realestate and will work on the controller. I am running the 6000s with the 6060 prop on them to cut the flow a little (wee bit too much for my newb setup). However, I wanted to be able to move into a bigger tank w/o the added expense of new powerheads. So I got the 6000s. BTW: They are almost silent |

If you can wait another month then get two 6055s, do a little mod to increase the flow from the advertised 1,453gph max to nearly 2,000gph max, a little more flow than the 6000's and $50 less. If you get two that will save you $100. The 6055s are much smaller in size than the 6000's, have a very pleasing look, and the flow direction is adjustable too.

92 gallon corner? Id do one or two 6100s and a multicontroller. 2x 6100s?!?!? Yeah. Then order the shrouds from the 6200s and put them on... this widens the flow considerably... its still 3000+ gph, but its a wider cone... about a 60 degree cone that can hit both the top and bottom of the tank at once, and only travels about 4' away. One of these in the back corner facing forward might be enough for you. IF not, add a second. But I wouldnt bother with 6000s... 6100s on up are the only way to go IMO.
I use a 6100 in a 40B with the 6200 shroud... its a great 'mod'. The entire tank gets flow with just one tunze (even behind rocks), but its a nice and quick flow... but not with alot of pressure to blow things over.
