ok storage containers for DIY 2 part?
Finding good containers for use in the reef hobby is sometimes difficult. Is it safe to use this container or that container?
In this case I would like to know if anyone sees and problems with using 1 gallon poly bottles that were originally used for storing Hydrogen Peroxide or Isopropal Alcohol. Thorough rinsings would of course be used. Should I do anything else or should these not be used at all. These are great storage vessels, made of poly and tough as nails... |

I use simple gallon containers from the grocery store for my solutions. I suspect the containers you're discussing are fine. The alkalinity part is a bit high in pH, but other than that aren't particularly reactive. Maybe a real chemist can chime in?

Yes why not just use containers originally used for milk?
Alternatively there are 1 gal containers for drinking water at the supermarket, those are safe to use. Now if you want something tough and long lasting... http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pro...oduct%5Fid=141

I have used the milk and juice containers as well, they just aren't nearly as good as these rugged chemical bottles that I get for free. And with Chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and alcohol it seems like they would rinse out well and/or be harmless...

This stuff is water based for sure...not the creamy stuff.

Wal-Mart has one gallon rubbermaid jugs with air tight seals and pour spouts. I think they cost about 4 bucks.
