Anyone's skimmer just stop skimming ever? (Everything working properly)

I have one of those Coralife 220 Super Skimmer. Everything is clean, bubbling like normal, andadjusted properly, but not producing any skimmate. Is there just nothing to skim or am I missing something else?

My old Berlin Turbo HOB did that. It wouls skim for a couple of weeks, then quit skimming altogether for weeks... Not the MR2, though. I do have to adjust it as it gets dirty, but it rips stuff out of the water.

did you do anything to the tank recently? Any oils from new equipment added (pumps, heater, etc) or your hands, or food (selcon) could cause it to stop skimming for a while. If it looks like it is bubbling normally, then that would be my guess as to what may be happening.

How long has it not been skimming?

IMO.... I dont think one can ever have clean enough water to not skim anything.

Is your tank acting ok?

The only thing I've been doing is feeding a lot more garlic guard with food. Other than that... nothing is different and of course tank appears fine. I'll lay off the garlic for a few days and see what happens. I'll also clean the pump out today, although.... the bubbles look fine.

I've noticed my cheato isn't growing as fast as I think it should either.

I took the skimmer totally down today... cleaned everything (it wasn't really dirty).... and still little to no skimmate.

I don't get it. IT seemed like this super skimmer 220 worked fine for a while.... now its junk. Any ideas?

Have you checked your salt levels. I know that I have sometimes been able to skim more when my SG is on the high side.

SG was sitting at 1.023. This is as low as I ever have SG. It increases sometimes up to 1.026 depending on when I add topoff. I added a salt to bring it up a little. I've not noticed any difference yet. I might hang my CPR Aquafuge PS on the front to see if it pulls anything. Right now I have it hooked up to a tank thats curing rock and I think its done pulling stuff out of it.

Mine does that when the air intake starts to clog up with salt creep. It will still make lots of bubbles but it won't skim much.

When you say "mine" do you have a CSS220 as well or another skimmer that has similar problems? The air intake appears to be free and clear

I hooked up my CPR Aquafuge PS about 30 mins ago. I don't see anything yet that would make me believe that it will be pulling out anything either. Plenty of bubbles in the CPR and its of course properly adjusted/freshly cleaned.

I'm stuck. I wish I had a fresh set of eyes to take a look at things. Anyone want to drive out to my house this week??? I only live about 9 miles off the interstate in Rockvale right off HWY 99 going toward Eagleville.

No, I have an aerofoamer 830. It is a big beckett but I have had the same thing on other skimmers as well. If I was closer I would take a look at it but that is a little drive for me.

Well, almost 2 hours later and the CPR PS is still showing no signs of making skimmate either. Both skimmers (visually) are producing plenty of microbubbles.

I'm totally boggled...especially with as much as I've been fedding lately. I've increased feeding by at least 50% over what I was doing since I got this new tang.

I dunno whats going on.
