Wheeler's watchman Goby
Has anyone kept these little fish? I would like to add 2 to my 55. I have 2 perc's, 2 yellowtail damsels, a blue damsel and a cherub angel. I want to add a couple more little fish and thought about a pair or trio of these. I have heard they do well in pairs or groups. I also have a large brittle star and a coral banded shrimp. WIll the star or shrimp prey on the gobies?
Thanks for any input. Walt |

No, they will only feed on dead organisms. The cb shrimp is actually a cleaner shrimp with larger modified cheliped (claws).

I have a wheeler's watchman in my aquapod. One of its tankmates was a cbs and they got along fine. Most of the time the gobie is hidden from view, but it is very neat to watch when you do see it.

I've had one in with my tiger pistol shrimp for about 2 years. It never goes more that 4 inches from the shrimp's their cave. It generally sits just outside keeping guard.
No experience in a group or with stars though. BTW, wheelers was tiny when I added it and my shrimp was quite large. I thought for sure the shrimp ate it when it shot down into the hole. Lots of clicking and the fish didn't come out. The next day there he was sitting at the entrance.
