Re-Start of Old Reef Tank

Here's some pics of my restarted reef tank. I started it in early 2000, but got frustrated and gave up in 2002. I kept it on simmer with the LR and one lonely Hippo Tang. The Tang survived and I've started it again with a lot more patience and a little more money. Here's some pics of it:

Thanks for looking,
Tom

The tank looks great! It's amazing what a little patience can do for a reef.

Thanks for the good words folks! Keeps me motivated. I'll take some more pics in six months to see how things progress.

Joeee,
Glad to:
The dimensions:
On the display tank are 72x18x18. When I built it into the wall, I covered about 2" on the top and bottom to hide the black plastic border.

Sump is 48x18hx12w Baffles are all 12"

Lighting:
(3) Metal Halide 175w 10000k (2)hamiltons (1) aqualine
(2) NO Flourescent 40w actinic ( I have a 3x55w fixture, but can't find the true actinic bulbs to upgrade).

Thanks for asking,
Tom

Just a thought -

Have you looked at the rating on the ballast for the PC's? I have a Coralife that shipped with 55's but the ballast said 55w/65w so I upgraded it about two years ago (running fine).

Depends on the manufacturer and age of the ballasts.
