imperator become goldflake....(pic)

I got an imperator angel fish for couple of years
He is an adult imperator, and every thing with him was fine till 2 month ago
He start loses more and more color, although the behavior and his diet stay the same.

Here is a photo when he starts to loose coloration:

Two weeks ago the imperator start to get back his color
But not the color he used to have….
His body start to look more and more like a gold flake angelfish

Here are some photos from today:

what is going on?

is it emperator or emperor angel? I asked because this isn't the first time I've seen that spelling. Please clarify. Thanks

emperator and emperor or imperator are all the same fish

could possibly be a hybrid since they do both come from Christmas island, but very unlikely since they are from different families.

Maybe it has to do with diet? what are you feeding?

I have never seen a full grown emp lose its colors in the first place, nevermind getting back in a very STRANGE pattern!

is he fat?

I know they came from different families, (Apolemichthys and Pomacanthus)
I was just joking about the goldflake because he starts to look like.
I don’t know if he is a hybrid or not, and I post this to find out
If any one has experience that before

As for his diet, he is very fat and eat as always.
He is acting like before and the only notable change id the coloration.
