just wondering during the rinse in FW and vinegar, the bubbles won't be as frothy as it would be in SW correct. Cuz basically it isn't chopping the bubbles as much as it should be right now. Is that normal?

Was just wondering if there is anywhere you can buy replacement parts for these skimmers and pumps? Mainly the needlewheel for the otp pump on a dnw-200. I want to mod it with the mesh mod but want a spare in case I screw it up.

Thanks

Does anyone have an extra needlewheel for a otp3000. Custom aquatics are back ordered. No telling when I would recieve it. Just checking if anyone has an extra one the can part with.

Thanks

Anyone used the giant skimmer with the 3 recirc ? If you have, what are your results and impressions?

I've got the 3 pump recirculating model:

My tank is quite lightly stocked and it pulls out the crud nicely:

I'm going to be doing the meshwheel mod on it next week in all likelihood.

Even without the mesh mod it blows away my old beckett in performance. I'm gravity feeding it from the overflow in my tank upstairs. The water level is ROCK SOLID on this; I have yet to adjust it and it keeps consistent. Only 68w per pump too, so much better than the 380w I was pumping into my beckett.

I thought the pumps were 38 watts each?

Could you tell me the size of the fitting where you feed the water into the skimmer?

Thanks

I have the NW 150 and when it is running properly it is great..I have been able to dial it in and really get some good dark gunk out of it. The problem is that twice now for no reason whatsoever (that I can find) the foam gets very inconsistant and overflows...In turn my remote collection cup overflows and starts flooding my carpet. I have watched this happen and from everything else in the tank nothing changes...Its like all the sudden the pump goes into turbo mode and starts creating a ton of bubbles.....

96 that sounds like the issue with the washer in the venturi housing sliding over and then clear of the airline hole. I saw the same thing until I drilled and glued it.

I'm not sure if they're labelled as such for sale, but when I hooked one of them up to a power usage meter (kinda like a Kill-a-Watt meter) I have, it registered 68w...

The barbed fitting at the skimmer intake takes 3/4" inner diameter hose (1" outer diameter)...

Hey Covey,

This is actually HDTV's 3 pump skimmer. He upgraded to the 4 pump model.

I've seen some of his pics; he was pulling out some pretty heavy funk.

However, he's got a huge bioload in comparison to me..

I've got 3 tangs, 2 chromis, 2 clowns and an anthias in my 140 with 100 sump.

However, with such a huge skimmer I can pretty much feed whatever I want now. It's great!

No prob.

Compared to my old beckett skimmer I'm saving power, so I'm not complainign.

Think a the PCI 2000 would handle a heavy stock 300 gal tank?

I am thinking not, but thats the only one that would fit in the stand.

I am currently using an ASM G4 with sedra 9k. It works well and all. The tank is kept clean.

Is anybody using any of the HOB octopus models?

If so, post up some pics!
I see that external HOB skimmer looks pretty cool. No pumps in the tank.

Does anyone know how to prevent the airline from sticking? Almost daily, I need to inject air into the airline feeding the pump because something sticks and clogs it up. I haven't had a chance to take the pump apart to see if there's something that needs cleaning (I guess I'm just lazy like that ). I figure someone must know a fix to this, so if I need to get some parts, like a new gasket or bigger airline, I'd like to get all the parts before taking the pump apart.

Thanks in advance

Does anyone have any experience with the Octopus DDNW150 (8" with 2x2000 pumps)? I am leaning toward the DNW 200 right now and came across the 2 pump model. The prices for the 2 are similar.

They are both listed here:
