Running 2 skimmers

no problems. go for it. It will work fine but just requires one more pump to clean. Otherwise no problems at all/.

Go for it. I just bought an Octopus Skimmer NW-200 to supplement my Euro-Reef CS 6-2 (with OR2700). You get redundancy in case one of them has to be taken off line. It's not the pump cleaning that will be as much of a pain as having to deal with emptying two skimmer cups, but ain't it worth it to have a well skimmed tank!

I have read in Anthoney Calfo writings that 2 different types of skimmers can be a good thing. Different types of skimmers can pull different gunk. He also recommended alternating cleanings of skimmers. I run a Needle Wheel ASM with a custom large air stone skimmer. They pull different colored gunk at different times, one will shut the other down for awhile then the other takes off, why, I'm not a chemist? Over all my Air stone skimmer is the work horse, I think the needle wheel does the fine tuning.

I run two skimmers and prefer that method versus one large unit.
