I got a Rebel XTi too!
I saw that Best Buy had the Canon Rebel XTi on sale this last weekend and my wife finally gave in. I got it with just the kit lense. I'm going to have to save a lot to get the lenses I want. Anyway, I don't normally show pictures of my tank since it's usually dirty and my pictures are crap, but these pics came out somewhat decent. Any words of advice are welcome, but keep in mind all I have is the kit lense right now.

Congrats! I am thrilled with the camera. The kits lens is really not so bad so far. Tips will vary from person to person and subject matter. Practice is the key.
The pictures don't work because you left out the tilde before your username, ie ~vngibbens. It must not like the parenthesis either. I can get to them if I add the tilde and copy and paste the link in to a browser.

oh well, I uploaded the pics to my gallery. I've uploaded pics and they've worked before, not sure why they won't show in the thread.
