I think i might have to save the dog poop if he ate a Falcon Champions hat. Might look funny walking around with dog poop on my head.

I think Id might just have to have the dogs teeth removed instead.

reefkeeper1, has it right, NW-200 is the best value IMO also. modded it can handle your 150 sps no problem. stock probably not. Stock they pull 9-12 Scfh modded they can pull 20 plus Scfh.

I would also tapper any and all 90 degree angles that might slow the flow form the pump to the skimmer. spend a little extra time with the elbow if you can. if you want more than 18Scfh the venturi holes will have to be reamed up a little but be careful not to over heat when drilling. GG or mesh wheel are a little involved id stay away from this unless you enjoy this kind of work.

ok sounds good. Do you think i will need to do the mesh wheel and recirc mod to get it working really good on a 150. or if i do everything else are those just an added bonus

You got it. Mesh mod can get your air over 30 scfh which is more than the stock neck can handle. unless you add 3 " or 4" to the neck.

According to the importer (Coral Vue)yes they are ozone safe.

Kurt really take your time working on the volute. The plastic burns really easy. Slow and steady with the drill and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys, i have plenty of time and i am trying to plan most of everything out so i dont have to redo anything later on. There will be a build thread soon I have a 55 setup right now so that provides eyecandy while doing the hard work on the 150

Also a question to anyone that has the NW200, is the footprint really 10.5 inches X 15 inches? Im trying to figure out if i can get both of my skimmers running on my 55 to compare them. I guess i will know soon enough, ordered the skimmer yesterday!

So if I understood that last part correctly.....don't do the mesh mod unless you are planning to increase the height of the neck 3-4 inches?

Has anyone tested the DDN-250 or the DDN-300? I have a 300 gallon system total. I am running a dual beckett now and want to eliminate the heat and noise. I wanted to know if these were decent skimmers?

Either one of those skimmers can easily handle a 300 gallon system. They are bigger than the pictures indicate. I actually like the DDN-250 better than the DDN-300.

Could you just bore out the venture on the normal NW200 and get it to pull the same as the recirc?
Stock NW200, maybe, maybe not.

Modded? Without question.

I have a 180 gallon and currently running a ER ES-6-2 with the sendra 3500 pump.
my tanks bioload is quite heavy but my skimmer is pulling alot of gunk every 4-5 days.
Im wondering if switching to a recirc 200 will see a big difference...any comments?

Rob, Have you stuck a air flow meter on the 250 or 300?

Not yet, I have one though. We have not placed any of the multi-pump units on any of our systems yet.

We are considering pulling some large (ETSS 1000 and a 5 foot tall custom Beckett driven) skimmers off of systems they currently skim in favor of these new larger needle wheel models.

Well, after reading through just some of the 1000's of posts about the Octopus NW150 I ordered it from marinedepot.com. The price is $169.99 including the pump. This is my first SW tank, a 75 gal intended mainly for fish, but will add some corals, etc. down the road.

Now I gotta get a sump!

Kurt try this link. The larger the scale the easier to read. The RMB series cost alittle more than the RMA but are easy to read.

If you plan on getting crazy with the modding yes that would be the one. I think Rich and Roland got their NW200 into the 30's. The bigger scale 5" scale will be much easier to read.

Got my new DNW-110 in today and got it running with water and vinegar. Got a couple questions. First of all, how long should I clean it before connecting to my tank? Second, this is my first skimmer so I don't know exactly how this thing goes together; Should I glue the piping in place for the return; it seems a little loose and is leaking a little water. I thought that this was part of the tuning process, though. If I glue the piping in place, how will I be able to adjust the water level? Any help is appreciated.

Shaun
