What are

Those things that attach to Maxi Jets and turn in circles? What are they called and can tehy be attached to other things besides maxi jets?

no they are more knob like and they rotate to change currents.

They work pretty good, you have to clean them to keep them turning and turbo snails love to ride on them.

I got mine at O st but John has them too I think.

Has anyone installed this on Aquaclear PHs or CA ?

Is adding the sponge worth it or just more maintance with little reward ?

I would not use the sponge myself, its designed to be a bio filter but live rock does that just fine for me. I have used them i my nano cube and on CA and Maxi-jet power heads. As long as you get them attached tightly, they are fine. As I recall they come with several adapter pieces to fit onto different types of power heads.

Sure, if you can match up the tubing you are good to go. I've been happy with them, they are not fancy and the gears have to be cleaned every week or so but they are reasonably priced.
