Closed loop on a non-drilled tank

In order to add more flow to my tank I am going to add a closed loop similar to the one Melev made.

The only issue I have is that my stand does not have room to set the pump on it. I am going to be using a Mag9 which will be too heavy to have the PVC hold it up. To cut down on noise/vibration it would be best to set the pump on something.

Does anyone have an idea of how to support the pump? Or any other advice for that matter.

BTW, this will be on a standard 55g

I would suggest looking into the new Tunze nano streams...

I did the Melev's CL. It worked well for several months then I started getting microbubbles that were impossible to get rid of.

Stan: Thanks for the advice. I was trying something like that before but couldn't get it right. That link you gave should work great for me.

lho: The reason I'm trying to do it this way is for cost reasons, which puts a Tunze right out of the picture.

problem is that larger size he needs, the tunze 6045 or 6055 aren't out yet. And these things tend to get delayed even longer. I settled on the exact same conclusion for my 40. Although i'm going with a mag 7.

How about a highflow maximod? If he has a couple MJ1200's laying around, the kits only cost about $25 and boom... close to 2000 gph!

The closed loop might cost more than two 6025 tunze nano streams --- CL needs mag 7, SWCD, PVC and adapters, barbs, tools, your precious time, etc.

A few things come to my mind comparing 2 Tunze nano streams vs the aforementioned closed loop:

Two 6025s has twice the flow as a Mag 7
CL mainly creates directional flow
Mag 7 screws developed rust for me and reportedly many others
each 6025 uses only 7 watt
Tunze nano stream comes w/ magnet holder so one can move it and place it any where in tank.
One can easily re-use or re-sell tunze nano stream
SWCD fails to work for many people and is a hassle to clean.
